Today is the new moon – it’s a powerful one too as it is the new moon in Aries, the first of the astrological year. And it’s a super moon – a moon that travels closer to the earth. Now, I’m not an astrologer, but I have always been intrigued by the stars, planets and our moon, and I love reading the descriptions of how the energies around us may be influencing our individual worlds. Many times everything fits with what I am experiencing already and then it all feels super powerful. This new moon is one of those.
When I read about April’s new moon in the Elephant Journal this week I knew it was going to be a good one: “This year is about resetting our internal qualities so that we can feel empowered to begin making the necessary changes in our external surroundings. No longer do we feel content doing things how we always have—we’ve felt this push and pull during the first three months of 2016. We’ve outgrown our old alignment of being.”
Yes! This is exactly what I have been feeling! 2016 has been quite unsettling for me so far, and honestly, I think I’ve been a bit in hiding because of it! But no more!
I have been processing a lot and seeing the path of my life for the perfection that it is. From being a young girl who hid and lied about anything and everything because it didn’t feel okay to be me to a young woman thrown into situations that required me (or that I required of myself) to be true to myself and my experience, and now learning how to speak up on behalf of my son and advocate for him with all of his sensitivities, brilliance, and learning and behavior challenges. Yes, this all brings me to where I am today and who I am becoming.
Cathy Pagano from her Wisdom of Astrology on Mystic Mamma confirms: “It all has to do with our beliefs—how they shape the story we want to live by. Right now, the heavens are asking us to consider those beliefs and how we can bring them into our 3-D reality. Jupiter in Virgo opposite Neptune in Pisces=opening our imaginations and honoring what comes to us by integrating it into our daily lives…”
Integrating it into our daily lives! This is what lights me up! Reading these analyses of the moon and planets is fun and eye-opening, but then what? I love steps and plans and lists and action! Sometimes I create whole spreadsheets with time lines and tasks or training plans with self-populating date fields and increasing miles laying out how I will get from here to there. The clarity of seeing how I will accomplish what is ahead of me is so enticing.
A tool for this I have been loving lately is my monthly How I spend my days… page in my planner. It’s a simple graph paper that I create each month with a list of the actions/rituals that I know make my life fulfilling.
“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”
How I spend my days… is a simple tool and a fun one to fill in with all the different colors! Just the process of thinking through what are your daily, weekly, semi-regular, or “should do” activities or rituals is a great place to start. These rituals, used as a daily practice, become an act of creatively designing your life.
I am consciously choosing to live the most honest life I can. To be true to me, to be centered in what I know and from that centeredness and groundedness, to make the best choices I can for me and my family.
Use the energy around you. Use the force of the new moon. Use your own version of my How I spend my days… page to create the life that lights you up!
“Luckily this New Moon is also trine Saturn- showing us that if we do the work to radically transform, die and rebirth ourselves and/or some key area of life we have the capacity to anchor into a new foundation upon which we can build for many years to come…” ~ Divine Harmony via Mystic Mamma
